ISCE 2023 Spring Forum: Behavioral and Social Sciences at the NIH: New and Emerging Directions
The Institute for Society, Culture, and Environment (ISCE) is hosting a watch party at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center to listen to a presentation by Dr. Christine Hunter, the current acting director of the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research at the National Institutes of Health. Hunter will be speaking on "Behavioral and Social Sciences at the National Institutes of Health: New and Emerging Directions," and she will also field questions from attendees after her presentation. Immediately following the watch party, there will be a networking reception for further discussion.
As acting director, Dr. Hunter supports the mission of the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research, which is to enhance the impact of health-related behavioral and social sciences research, coordinate and integrate these sciences withing the larger NIH research enterprise, and communicate health-related behavioral social sciences research findings.

Currently a Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service, Dr. Christine Hunter is Board Certified in Clinical Health Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Hunter’s research interests include uncovering mechanisms of behavior change, understanding individual differences in treatment response, and translating basic science findings into meaningful human application.
